Finally, a ticker tape quilt finish!

I know my last post said I was going to show more party pics, but I haven't had time to go through all the photos and edit them yet... soon though, soon...

In the meantime enjoy these photos of the finally finished ticker tape quilt!!!!

I can't believe it's done!, for those who missed this post, I've been working on this quilt since October for Sam's first Christmas. I obviously didn't get it finished in time, but it made a lovely first birthday gift!

Some of my fancy embroidery skills in use...

A close up of the front...click on it for a larger view.

I even love the back!!

And here's a couple close ups...

I could post so many more close ups... but I'll restrain myself.

It's only been washed once and the edges are already fraying so nicely... I can't wait until it's been done a few more times and they really soften up.
I should have gotten a nice close up of the binding, it looks so good... thanks to my wonderful Mom who did all the painstaking hand stitching so it would be finished for Sam's Birthday... You're the best Mom!!

Stay tuned for my next quilting adventure, when I try hexies for the first time!

I struggled with a twin... couldn't imagine tackling a queen.
    Maybe someday...

  3. oh my goodness, you're an inspiration! well done, it's so beautiful. did you do it on a normal sewing machine? must have been really tricky...

  4. thanks Ruby!
Yep... just my 15 year old Kenmore.
it started out being quite difficult, until i decided instead of sewing around each individual square, i just stitched all the horizontals first, then all the verticals. does that make sense?

  10. I'm yet to begin quilting, I'm waiting to have the space in my new house where I get my own sewing room, YAY!! I've just discovered ticker tape quilting and love how it uses scraps. This one of yours is amazing. Sewing in the one direction first then the other make perfect sense. I can't wait to get started!
